In developing countries, necessity dictates that as much of a resource is used, with as little waste as possible. By finding a use for the bamboo root, no part of the tree is now wasted.
Bamboo remains an essential material for rural communities for construction of homes and numerous other uses.
When the root is first cut it retains small roots giving it a hairy appearance. These first have to be removed before the body can be sanded, a labour intensive process which allows additional work opportunities for often poor rural communities.
